Your Experience

Unique – remote – fascinating! Is this what you would like to experience on your honeymoon? Nothing gets better than this honeymoon to Tanzania. Encounter some intense wildlife in the untouched wilderness of Katavi. There are no humans for hundreds of miles. Apart from one lodge and its staff, you will see no other people. But you will see huge herds of buffalo, elephants and thousands of zebra. A one-hour flight from Katavi followed by a 90-minute dhow trip will bring you into the mountains of Mahale. This is home of Tanzania’s densest population of primates. It’s also a fascinating bush and beach combo. Last but not least, you are whisked off to Fanjove Island in the Songo Songo Archipelago. It’s an unexplored honeymoon destination. Feel like Robinson Crusoe far away from civilization – without missing comfort and luxury though…

Itinerary Summary

ARUSHA – 1 NIGHT

Arusha offers magnificent views onto world famous Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the ideal base to start and end your safari. Arusha Coffee Lodge is a perfect haven for relaxation. The Lodge is hidden amongst a large coffee plantation. Learn more about the world of coffee on a ‘bean-to-cup’ Coffee Estate Tour. Stroll through a Masai market and visit the cultural centre where you can read up on Tanzania’s 120-plus tribes.

KATAVI – 3 NIGHTS

Katavi’s main features are the enormous floodplains providing a home to large groups of hippos, crocs and over 400 species of birds. It is the dry season though that brings Katavi to life. Great clouds of dust rise from the feet of over 3.000 buffalos stomping over the woodlands. Explore this wilderness on game drives and bush walks. For a romantic honeymoon experience have a out on the plain and listen to the sounds of the bush around the campfire at night.

MAHALE – 4 NIGHTS

The mountains of Mahale are home to a variety of primates. After breakfast you head off into the mountains with your scouts and trackers. Listen to the sounds of nature. Watch out for yellow baboon, red colobus, blue, red-tailed and vervet monkeys. As soon as you reach the chimps, you spend an hour observing how they play, eat and interact with each other. In the afternoon, take a dhow cruise down Lake Tanganyika to see some colorful exotic fish. How about a romantic honeymoon walk along the beach of fine powder-white sand? Enjoy your dinner at the beach. Watch the sun set over the lake and wait for the stars to appear above you. This is a perfect honeymoon moment.

DAR ES SALAAM – 1 NIGHT

Dar es Salaam – although capital city of Tanzania – is a very quiet and beautiful city. Dar es Salaam is located in a beautiful bay off the Indian Ocean. Enjoy wandering around many colorful markets. Visit various historical sites such as St. Joseph’s Cathedral, the White Father’s Mission House, the Botanical Gardens, and the old State House – all easily accessible by foot. If you love fresh fish, a visit to the daily fish market will be a memorable experience.

Honeymoon Paradise Fanjove Island

SONGO SONGO ARCHIPELAGO – 4 NIGHTS

Take off your shoes and enter your honeymoon paradise. Beaches of pure sand. A warm breeze whistling through tropical palm-trees. Swim in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Fanjove Island is still unexplored and the ideal honeymoon destination. Relive your Robinson Crusoe’s adventure – of course in barefoot-luxury! Snorkel of a secluded sand bank. Go on a dolphin excursion. With a bit of luck you can even swim with these friendly mammals. Explore the island on a kayak safari or simply set sail into the sunset with a traditional dhow… You wish your honeymoon will never end.
