NAIROBI – 1 NIGHT
Nairobi is a city full of contrasts – skyscrapers, shopping malls, matatus and colorful markets! Enjoy a cold Tusker or follow into the footsteps of Karen Blixen. Watch orphaned elephants being fed at the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. Have a close encounter with a giraffe in the Giraffe Centre. There are loads of ways to experience this lively and vibrant capital city.
LAIKIPIA – 3 NIGHTS
Your camel safari starts with a hearty breakfast at sunrise when the bush slowly wakes up. Throughout the day you will be accompanied by Samburu trackers and Masai guides. You learn more about the nature, the local culture and survival skills of the Masai during your camel safari. You escape the heat of the day by relaxing under a shady acacia tree. Immerse yourself in the beautiful surroundings. In the afternoon, you leave to your bivouac, which has been set up by the support team in a different area. With a bit of luck you might come across wild dogs but certainly elephants and giraffes. Enjoy a sundowner with a cool beer and enjoy the nocturnal animals of the bush that slowly start to come out. You sleep in walk-in traditional style tents on comfortable mattresses on the grounds. They are made into a huge double or twin bed. You will have blankets, sheets and feather pillows. Fall asleep, listening to she sounds of the wilderness knowing that you are well protected by your Samburu and Masai guides.
SAMBURU – 2 NIGHTS
Your safari ends in Samburu. Picture a place of endless skies, dust-red plains and palm-fringed rivers. Samburu is home to the endangered Grevy’s zebra, the rare beisa Oryx and large herds of elephant. Game drives usually take place along the banks of the river where the game come to drink and bath. Discover Samburu on guided bush walks or another short camel safari. For an insight into the local culture you can visit a village. At Samburu Intreprids you can also enjoy game drives in the adjacent Buffalo Springs game reserve where you can see a natural spring pool.
